Going the extra mile for our Veterans

When our county needed them, Veterans stepped up answering the call to serve with distinction. Our nation’s Veterans swore a solemn oath to support and defend our Constitution and through their courage, sacrifice and commitment, they defended our freedoms. Veterans have earned our undying gratitude and our ongoing support. Illinois House Republicans believe it is not enough to just honor these heroes on Veterans Day: They deserve our recognition every single day of the year. What’s more, they deserve policymakers who will go the extra mile to ensure Veterans receive the benefits and support they have more than earned.

Seven House Republican legislators are Veterans themselves and bring their experiences to the legislative process. They champion the causes of Veterans and military personnel, taking on Veteran suicide, homelessness, healthcare and more. They along with their colleagues ensure the voices of Veterans are heard in the Illinois House of Representatives.

Legislators in the Illinois General Assembly consider a multitude of laws and policies that impact the lives of Veterans and their families. They also have the responsibility of providing oversight over the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs through the appropriations process. House Republican lawmakers want to hear from Illinois Veterans so they can best serve them.

If you are a Veteran and would like to share your experiences with House Republican lawmakers so they can improve Veteran services in Illinois, we ask that you take this brief survey to let them know what’s working and what’s not.
