If you have a stash of unwanted paint, cleaners, batteries, light bulbs or other household hazardous materials stored in your home, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) wants to help you dispose of them safely.
Household hazardous wastes (HHW) are materials that are residentially generated but potentially have the dangerous properties of hazardous waste when they are no longer used for their intended purpose.
To make it easier for residents to dispose of HHW, the IEPA is supplementing their long-term collection facilities with special one-day events in various communities throughout the state. The collection events will be held from August through November.
Illinois State Representative Brad Fritts is co-hosting a one-day collection event for his constituents. “I am thrilled that my office, along with the Office of Leader Tony McCombie, will be hosting this event in October," said Fritts. "This is a sorely
needed service for constituents in our area, and will allow residents to safely dispose of potentially hazardous and dangerous waste. Thank you to the Illinois EPA for partnering with us on this event."
