Rep. Brian Stewart (Freeport) |
“I want thank my family, friends and especially State Representative Jim Sacia for supporting me in this endeavor,” said Rep. Stewart. “I am truly honored at this opportunity and am confident that my background and past experiences will serve me well as I represent the people of the 89th District in Springfield.”
Illinois legislators are scheduled to return to Springfield October 22nd for fall Veto Session. Rep. Stewart stated the pension crisis is the top issue driving the state’s budget woes and is committed towards working in a bipartisan manner to resolve the issue.
“The states pension debt is growing by the millions each day,” stated Rep. Stewart. “Those dollars could be used to fund education, senior services and other important areas in the States budget. We must tackle this problem and protect retirees before the system is in total disarray.”
Rep. Stewart’s primary focus will be putting Illinois in a regulatory and financial position to create good-paying agricultural, manufacturing and middle class jobs that can rejuvenate Illinois’ ailing economy.
“We have to create good-paying jobs while putting people back to work,” said Rep. Stewart. “It’s impossible for families to provide the necessities to thrive without a business friendly environment that can deliver these jobs.”
The 89th District encompasses all of Stephenson, Carroll and JoDaviess Counties and portions of Whiteside, Winnebago and Ogle Counties.
Rep. Stewart will keep former Rep. Jim Sacia’s office at the Stewart Centre building in downtown Freeport. For more information regarding Rep. Stewart and his district office you can visit repbrianstewart.com, call (815) 232-0774 or email him at repstewart@gmail.com.
